                              | Story by Oliver Franke/IFMXF.com | Graz, 17th April 2010: Rob Adelberg ruled with an impressive run at the NIGHT of the JUMPs in Graz and won the first contest of the European FMX cup. The Aussie guy won the final ahead of Brody Wilson and Brice Izzo and reached his first IFMXF victory.

Last Thursday the contract for the European Championship was signed with the European Motorcycle Union (UEM). The series will start next year, but will have a forecast with this years European Cup contests at the NIGHT of the JUMPs in Graz and Mannheim. With the new tournament young talents will have a chance to conquer with the top riders on an international platform. So Austria had the first ever IFMXF qualifier, where 8 riders fought for the last six places in the contest.

Romain Izzo, Martin Koren, William van den Putte, Lukas Weis, David Rinaldo and Hannes Ackermann made it thru the IFMXF try-out and qualified for the field of riders at the NIGHT of the JUMPs. With Jose Miralles (ESP), Brice Izzo (FRA), Brody Wilson (USA), Petr Pilat (CZE), Rob Adelberg (AUS) and Martin Schenk (AUT) the most exciting riders of last and this year’s World Championship as well as the local hero completed the starters with the six athletes from the qualifier.

Almost in the qualification the riders fired the best Freestyle Motocross on the track Graz have ever seen. Only local hero Martin Schenk could not finish his run due to shoulder problems. Germanys Hannes Ackermann premiered a Switchblade to Switchblade Flip and newcomer David Rinaldo showed a Superman Seatgrab Flip. Same trick had William von den Putte, but all of them did not reach the final. Rob Adelberg, Brody Wilson, Romain Izzo, Brice Izzo, Jose Miralles and Petr Pilat made it into the next round.

And those guys hammered a flip mania on the track in the final: Superman Seatgrab Flip by Jose Miralles, Shaolin Flip by Romain Izzo, Tsunami Flip by Brody Wilson, Stripper Flip by Petr Pilat, Tsunami Flip Indy by Brice Izzo and Clicker to Clicker Flip by Rob Adelberg. Finally Adelberg took the win ahead of Wilson and Izzo.

Lukas Weis won the Whip contest and Brice Izzo Race & Style. In the Step up contest Germanys young Kai Haase had a sensational victory ahead of Alastair Sayer with 8,6 meters. But as the bushman was lost more than 2 days in Europe he got of the train and directly on the bike.
Next contest of the European Cup will be today at the second day of the NIGHT of the JUMPs in Graz.
